Um, H-hello everyone.

I'm sorry to bother you but I've gotten really worried, my friend has been missing for a little over a week and even though she's pretty capable...I-I would just like to know if anyone's seen her.

Her name is Luna Lovegood, she's a witch and her partner is a Labramon.

[Attached: Photo of Luna with her Specterscopes on her forehead]

If anyone knows anything please, I would be very grateful.

Luna's missing?

Y-yes, she and her partner didn't show up last week for class, and they haven't been seen since...at least...no one I've spoken to has seen them.

My partner tells me I shouldn't worry...that Luna probably just wandered off again but...but I can't help it. What if something's wrong? What if someone kidnapped her? W-what if she's hurt or has amnesia again or or...*Squeek*

No, it's okay. Relax. Calm down. Think rationally. We can report it to DATs. If she's been gone for a week, that's something. Let's report it to DATs and get them to help. Relax. Just, relax. [She sounds rather tense herself, like she's the one who needs to relax.]

*Whimper* S-sorry, I'm sorry...I'm always l-like this when a friend is in trouble a-and we don't even know that she's in trouble i-it's just...

...L-luna's never in trouble. She's always so calm and relaxed t-that bad stuff just seems to move around her. I-it's weird to worry about her b-but...

No. You've got a right to be like this. Just relax.

It's not weird to worry. It's natural. It's human. I'll help you look.

... That seems off.

Last I saw her, she was in town, heading towards a tea shop.

And it's not like we've seen anything going on, right?

T-that's right...it's not like before. Some time ago lots of people were getting kidnapped left and right b-but this is the only one I've heard of lately.

... Wish I could say that it was the only one I've heard of.

An "Adorea" also seems to have disappeared...

O-oh dear!

I-I think Adorea and Luna were friends...

Could be coincidence, they don't seem to have a lot in common.

But it's enough that it looks like we're in the middle of an incident. Again.

*Sigh* Should've known...

There there, my dear.

[attached: very mildly doctored sherbet lemon]

Miss Lovegood is very proficient in her own right; I'm quite sure she's all right.

*not going to admit that he had noticed the same and is really rather worried because he's having trouble finding out anything, and he doesn't think it's like her to skip classes for her expeditions without notice ...*

T-thank you sir.

I know she is...b-but even the most skilled here end up in trouble once in awhile, a-and I know she hasn't gone home because when that happens a very specific message is played when you call them.

Yes, that is true. [heaving a sigh] And yet, as of now all we can do is look for her and trust that said skill is enough to keep her as safe as possible.

And so that is what we shall do.

It's too soon to say. I sincerely hope not.

I'll... figure something out. It's going to be okay, Tiffany.

I did ask at some of her favourite teashops, and she was seen at the Magical Teashop on Tetha--on the 16th, I believe. Alas, no one saw her leave ... I believe that may be the last anyone saw of her at all.

I had a feeling. I've already been doing some digging. But... sadly, if someone isn't found within the first 48 hours, the odds of finding them all right are... slim, to say the least.

On the other hand, I know she's not dead. I keep tabs on all of my students, as much as I can without violating their privacy.

I'm planning to attempt to divine her location soon, but... I'm going to need a little time to set up the spell.

Indeed. Perhaps I ought to consider something similar.

I would be glad to assist you, if you need it.

Might I suggest for the future some sort of tracking spell, however. Not something too intrusive, no; perhaps a latent spell on a pendant or piece of jewelery that they might activate when in danger. I would prefer to think that students had a way of sending for help that was less obvious than the D-Comms, in this climate.

Ironically, Albus? That's not that far off from what I had in mind. M.A.G.I. has a variety of charms and spells woven into the guild insignias back home.

Unfortunately... I'm not craftsman, and neither do I have the materials I need to perform those sorts of spells. I've been pondering it for a while now, but it's been a low priority.

Which... I'm coming to regret, now.

Ah, but that is where I might be of assistance, as our spells are more akin to ... imbuing objects, for lack of a better word. I would not need much in the way of materials, except perhaps some sort of scry to attach the spelled objects to so we may know who has activated their tracker and why--it would be rather like a ward, I suppose you might say.

It may be prudent to go so far as spelling them for teleportation. We call them 'portkeys'--objects which are spelled to transport a person from one place to another, predetermined one near instantaneously, and can be triggered by time or by password. In truth I had already been looking into it, but I would need more time to determine whether such a spell would be safe to use within the constraints of the digital world. Thus far apparition appears to be safe enough, but the theory behind portkeys is somewhat different, and if we desire the location to be warded as well, or to combine too many spells onto the relevant object, it may make a difference. *theorist mode*

No kidding, the teleportation thing isn't easy... I know several people have been working on investigating teleportation in the digital world. As far as my own theories go, we'd need to find a way to tap into the lightpost network in order to really get something failsafe. And... it would still be complex.

But it is something I'd like to see. I've really missed the Medicom network back home... It lets people teleport directly to hospitals when their health is in danger for whatever reason. It's expensive, but it's saved a LOT of lives.

Re: [locked to Kat]

Yes, portkeys rely rather a lot on energy the digital world has difficulty adapting to. Even solo apparition feels rather different to how it did, and I required some experimentation to perform it safely. I may be able to use it as a basis for something which does not require the lightposts, but that would take time. In any case, it is a project worth investigating, particularly a medical network such as that.

But as you have confirmed such a project would be difficult, I suppose we will have to be satisfied with simple tracking and alarm spells for the moment.

Oh, I'm never satisfied.

But your point is well taken. I'm going to speak to the other professors, and some of my contacts, see what we can work out...

It's not been a good month for M.A.G.I. it seems...

Of course. And as the theory behind portkeys and apparition may be different enough to your current research to provide some new insight, I will send it to you also. At the very least, the fact that apparition is indeed possible is encouraging.

Meanwhile, I shall see to creating some innocuous tracking and warning devices; the students shall have that much, at least. An insignia, perhaps, or some kind of necklace or brooch ...

Ah! I do look forward to receiving it. It should present some promising new avenues to my research.

I recommend a badge AND a card that can fit in a wallet. Redundant systems, in case on is rendered unusable for whatever reason.

Of course, of course. I would be quite curious to see your theories as well.

Yes, that is prudent, although perhaps not a card--after all, it is rather difficult to find something in one's wallet when one is in danger, and wallets are, alas, the most common victim of petty theft. A single pocketed coin, perhaps, instead ...
