[Audio, locked from hostiles.]
Feb. 24th, 2010 04:53 pmUm, H-hello everyone.
I'm sorry to bother you but I've gotten really worried, my friend has been missing for a little over a week and even though she's pretty capable...I-I would just like to know if anyone's seen her.
Her name is Luna Lovegood, she's a witch and her partner is a Labramon.
[Attached: Photo of Luna with her Specterscopes on her forehead]
If anyone knows anything please, I would be very grateful.

Date: 2010-02-25 12:08 am (UTC)My partner tells me I shouldn't worry...that Luna probably just wandered off again but...but I can't help it. What if something's wrong? What if someone kidnapped her? W-what if she's hurt or has amnesia again or or...*Squeek*

Date: 2010-02-25 12:30 am (UTC)...L-luna's never in trouble. She's always so calm and relaxed t-that bad stuff just seems to move around her. I-it's weird to worry about her b-but...

Date: 2010-02-25 04:04 am (UTC)It's not weird to worry. It's natural. It's human. I'll help you look.

Date: 2010-02-25 01:07 am (UTC)Last I saw her, she was in town, heading towards a tea shop.
And it's not like we've seen anything going on, right?

Date: 2010-02-25 07:19 am (UTC)I-I think Adorea and Luna were friends...

*Sigh* Should've known...

Miss Lovegood is very proficient in her own right; I'm quite sure she's all right.
*not going to admit that he had noticed the same and is really rather worried because he's having trouble finding out anything, and he doesn't think it's like her to skip classes for her expeditions without notice ...*

I know she is...b-but even the most skilled here end up in trouble once in awhile, a-and I know she hasn't gone home because when that happens a very specific message is played when you call them.

Date: 2010-02-25 05:17 am (UTC)On the other hand, I know she's not dead. I keep tabs on all of my students, as much as I can without violating their privacy.
I'm planning to attempt to divine her location soon, but... I'm going to need a little time to set up the spell.
Re: [locked to Kat]
Date: 2010-02-25 05:27 am (UTC)I would be glad to assist you, if you need it.
Might I suggest for the future some sort of tracking spell, however. Not something too intrusive, no; perhaps a latent spell on a pendant or piece of jewelery that they might activate when in danger. I would prefer to think that students had a way of sending for help that was less obvious than the D-Comms, in this climate.
Re: [locked to Kat]
Date: 2010-02-25 05:41 am (UTC)Unfortunately... I'm not craftsman, and neither do I have the materials I need to perform those sorts of spells. I've been pondering it for a while now, but it's been a low priority.
Which... I'm coming to regret, now.
Re: [locked to Kat]
Date: 2010-02-25 06:09 am (UTC)It may be prudent to go so far as spelling them for teleportation. We call them 'portkeys'--objects which are spelled to transport a person from one place to another, predetermined one near instantaneously, and can be triggered by time or by password. In truth I had already been looking into it, but I would need more time to determine whether such a spell would be safe to use within the constraints of the digital world. Thus far apparition appears to be safe enough, but the theory behind portkeys is somewhat different, and if we desire the location to be warded as well, or to combine too many spells onto the relevant object, it may make a difference. *theorist mode*
Re: [locked to Kat]
Date: 2010-02-25 06:15 am (UTC)But it is something I'd like to see. I've really missed the Medicom network back home... It lets people teleport directly to hospitals when their health is in danger for whatever reason. It's expensive, but it's saved a LOT of lives.
Re: [locked to Kat]
Date: 2010-02-25 06:32 am (UTC)But as you have confirmed such a project would be difficult, I suppose we will have to be satisfied with simple tracking and alarm spells for the moment.
Re: [locked to Kat]
Date: 2010-02-25 07:05 am (UTC)But your point is well taken. I'm going to speak to the other professors, and some of my contacts, see what we can work out...
It's not been a good month for M.A.G.I. it seems...
Re: [locked to Kat]
Date: 2010-02-25 07:15 am (UTC)Meanwhile, I shall see to creating some innocuous tracking and warning devices; the students shall have that much, at least. An insignia, perhaps, or some kind of necklace or brooch ...
Re: [locked to Kat]
Date: 2010-02-25 07:25 am (UTC)I recommend a badge AND a card that can fit in a wallet. Redundant systems, in case on is rendered unusable for whatever reason.
Re: [locked to Kat]
Date: 2010-02-25 07:46 am (UTC)Yes, that is prudent, although perhaps not a card--after all, it is rather difficult to find something in one's wallet when one is in danger, and wallets are, alas, the most common victim of petty theft. A single pocketed coin, perhaps, instead ...
